Nigerian entertainment industry most interesting celebrity fights

The Nigerian entertainment industry in all its energetic glitz and glam would be incomplete without the occasional drama and social media brawls from time to time.

Between now and January, we’ve witnessed all sorts of heated clashes on social media between your faves and other faves; from social media spats to public confrontations, Nigerian celebrities have kept fans and critics entertained with their feuds.

Here’s a roundup of the most interesting Nigerian celebrity fights this year.

Davido vs. Wizkid

Almost as if on cue, these guys are always going at it every year and it was not surprising when it started again this year. However, this year’s fight was a bit messier than any of the previous because they ended up dragging other celebrities into the fight; from Peruzzi to Ladipoe to Don Jazzy.

It was quite chaotic as fans also took the opportunity to prove their fierce loyalty and allegiance to their faves, digging up whatever amount of dirt they could find on the rival celebrity, sharing it on social media and just dragging themselves endlessly. Some fans even took it personal and went physical on the streets.

Bobrisky vs VDM

Bob Risky (The Mummy Of Lagos), the popular Nigerian crossdresser who is nothing but an entertainer with pure vibes got into the web of our popular Nigerian social media batman, VDM (Very Dark Man) and he almost sucked her dry if not because she/he went to prison.

He was concerned with the kind of lewd videos Bobrisky was posting online, stating that since he was an influencer, he also had the responsibility to post things that can enrich and add value to the lives of the younger Nigerians looking up to him.

However, Bob wasn’t having it. He/she decided to drag VDM and give him a lesson or two on minding his business. The classes were inconclusive as the Mummy of Lagos had to answer the call of duty after being served a 6-month prison sentence.

VDM vs Tonto Dikeh

Again, our popular Nigerian social media batman, VDM (Very Dark Man) got into the bad books of Nigerian Celebrity, Tonto Dikeh, as he called her out for owing an Abuja-based car dealer, N2 million for over a year without paying back, having used the car for almost that amount of time.

Tonto claimed she paid the dealer N84 million out of the agreed 86 million and as such should be exempted from whatever backlash due to defaulting on payment.

But VDM, being the voice of the voiceless on social media, has been updating us with all the fresh updates on how Tonto has been threatening and harassing the car dealer amongst other things, while calling for the immediate payment of the young man’s balance. We’re patiently waiting to see how this will end as the drama is still unfolding.

Portable Baeby vs Bob Risky

Quite similar to VDM’s issue with the mummy of Lagos, Portable Baeby (aka Ika of Africa) couldn’t hold back his displeasure about the award of the best-dressed female that was given to Bob Risky at the movie premiere of the “Beast of Two Worlds.”

He called Bob Risky out and of course, the mummy of Lagos didn’t like that. The crossdresser responded by calling Portable a “dirty boy”

Portable wouldn’t let it slide and he dropped a diss track titled “Brotherhood.” They kept at it until Bob was whisked away for a compulsory punitive vacation. This fight was cut short but it was entertaining while it lasted.

Eedris Abdulkareem vs Burna Boy and Others

Eedris Abdulkareem spoke about how he paved the way for Burna Boy and other artists in the industry.

He claimed to have fought for the equality and freedom of expression they now freely enjoy while being interviewed on a trending podcast but after the heartfelt story Burna boy was not having it because he came to X to call out Eedris saying he would like to meet him one on one even if it’s by mistake but he later took down the post.

Other industry acts also took to social media to refute the statement with unending receipts. It was an interesting period of gbas gbos on the internet.

These celebrity feuds have provided plenty of entertainment and drama for fans this year. While some may view these conflicts as mere publicity stunts, they also highlight the competitive and passionate nature of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

As we look forward to more exciting developments, one thing is certain: Nigerian celebrities know how to keep us entertained, both on and off the stage.
