The way people are getting married every weekend makes me wonder if love is truly hard to find or we aren’t looking in the right places🤔 because even on social media people are finding their LOML.
I mean, a number of good things have happened to people just because they were bold enough to shoot their shot (by sending a “Hi” via DM to that amazing person they’ve been eyeing for a while or responding to a “Hello” in their DM) or jump on a challenge or engage a post on social media. Some people have even gotten married to their favorite celebs and there are loads of testimonies everywhere.
However, the average social media app is highly saturated and overcrowded with very unserious creeps so I can understand your fears and reservations about finding love on social media, still we agreed not to “gree for anybody” this year and love isn’t left out, so never say never.
If you’re still open to the possibility of finding love on social media without the regular drama, then I have gist for you. It starts with a new social media app called Fusion.
Fusion is a social media app with “super powers“ that helps you connect with people, create content with people and transact seamlessly on the same platform. It thrives on bringing like minds together.
On Fusion, you’d find different communities that cut across various areas of interest. There’s literally a community for every person. The amazing thing about communities is that you get to interact and network with a lot of people and that for me is everything!
In case you’re doubting, I just got off the phone with an old colleague who shared the beautiful story of how she met her true love on social media and guys, they’re married now with a set of twins. Here are some of the things I’ve learnt from hers and other social media love stories
Create an interesting profile
The first thing you’re expected to do on any social media platform is to create your profile. So, once you’ve successfully downloaded and installed the app, set up your login details and create a banging profile for yourself. Guys, you’ve got to be intentional and appealing to the eyes, especially if you’re looking for love.
Use an eye-catching display picture, you never know who’s checking. Put up interesting bits about yourself in your profile/bio. It doesn’t have to carry everything about you, it should create room for people to inquire more but it should include enough information (like your hobbies…) to keep the right person interested in you.
Whether you agree or not, your username also says a lot about you so please don’t put up a username like “Dangbanachoko” and expect us not to judge a book by its cover.
Make yourself visible and approachable
While setting up your profile, you’ll have noticed a segment that reads interests; in choosing your interests, you’ll determine the categories of communities that would be visible to you.
Select interests like Dating, Relationship, Romance, Netflix, etc, basically things that would interest singles like you in addition to whatever your personal preferences are. Then proceed to join the communities (that show up with these interests) where you can find your potential LOMLs.
When you join communities, engage – engage the posts (like, comment, share) and the people. Feel free to drop your own 2 cents on issues being discussed but make sure you contribute sensibly, your LOML might be in the comments or even be a member of your community.
Be yourself
To stand out in the crowd you have to be yourself. A lot of wrong opinions are formed on social media platforms every day because everybody wants to be like the other person. Most people come on social media to play the devil’s advocate. Don’t be like them. Be your authentic self and give room for others to be themselves without being offensive.
Interact with people and have fun while you’re at it. Upload what is necessary to showcase your lifestyle, the kind of person you are and the experiences that you’ve had, bring value.
When someone you like makes or comments on a post, unashamedly like the post or comment on it. It’s part of making yourself visible. Make sure you comment in a respectful manner that’ll keep the conversation going.
Avoid snide remarks or insensitive comments, you don’t want to piss the person off … .If you enjoy their line of thought or the perspective they bring to any conversation, you can let them know by using the tip feature on Fusion.
Take the conversation further by sliding into their DM using the private chat feature on Fusion. Engage and keep the conversation going if the energy is right. Also you need to be consistent at your game. You might just land yourself a hit when you eventually shoot your shot.
Physical Meetup
This is the tricky part! This physical meetup is usually a huge determinant of whether or not your ship would sail. It’s the part where you confirm if what you ordered is what you got or you’ll have to trash all those plenty butterflies that are flying in your stomach because people pretend.
You want to make sure you dress the part, look good, smell good and bring all that rizz and steeze game to the front burner. Go all out..
You also have to be careful in choosing the meetup venue, make sure it’s a controlled environment. It’s best to meet up in a public place and not anybody’s house.
Of course, some people have tried it and it worked for them but not everybody gets that lucky and with all the horrid stories we hear, please just avoid it. Keep the conversation lighthearted, sincere and interesting.
You can check here for insights and don’t forget to share the gist when you finally find love on Fusion. I can’t wait to hear your love story and I wish you all the best in your love hunting endeavours.
Are you single and ready to mingle? Are you on Fusion?
Join me and a host of amazing people on Fusion’s “Dating & Relationship” community where we rub minds and address issues around relationships and share experiences with each other. See ya!
