5 great movies that teach about sex

Good sex education movies are rare. There are only a handful of good movies that teach about sex out there. And no, I don’t mean movies with tons of sex scenes (vigorously eyes 365 Days fans). I mean movies that actually touch on the complex issues of sexuality and intimacy like no other mainstream content does.

This is mostly because the concept of sex and everything associated with it is still viewed as a taboo; something that should not be discussed openly…something to be ashamed of.

However, good sex education is important.

It provides young people with accurate and comprehensive information about sexual health and relationships. This knowledge can help them make informed decisions about their own health and wellbeing.

Additionally, sex education can help to dispel myths and misconceptions about sex, which can lead to safer and healthier choices.

Finally, sex education can foster open communication between young people and their parents or other trusted adults, which can be beneficial for overall development and well-being.

Having these reasons in mind, we’ve compiled a list of 5 movies that teach about sex. Check them out.

Sex Education

Socially awkward high school student Otis lives with his sex therapist mother, and he’s learned a lot about sex from her work. When his classmates find out about his home life, they ask him for sex advice.

Otis and Maeve, a rebellious classmate, start a secret sex therapy clinic at school. As Otis learns more about sex and relationships, he realizes that he has his own issues to work through.

As the season progresses, Otis learns a lot about himself and his relationships, and he becomes a more confident and compassionate person. The show is filled with humor, heart, and a lot of insights about human sexuality. It is one of the most popular movies that teach about sex and I’m sure you’d love it.

How to Have Sex

Three British schoolgirls go on holiday to a Greek party resort, looking forward to a week of freedom and fun. However, one of the girls, Mia, finds herself feeling pressured to lose her virginity and is unsure about how to handle the situation.

The holiday quickly becomes more complicated than the girls expected, and they must learn to navigate the tricky waters of friendship, growing up, and sexuality.

As Oli Welsh puts it, “this is an achingly sensitive and honest drama about sex, booze, consent, friendship, the painful precipice of adulthood, and the secret history of one messy weekend.”

The Sessions

Helen Hunt stars in this film about a man with a physical disability who decides to lose his virginity by hiring a sex surrogate. As the relationship between them develops, both characters have to confront issues of disability, sexuality, and religion.

The film is based on the true story of Mark O’Brien, a journalist who wrote about his experiences. The Sessions is a really powerful and moving film. Helen Hunt’s performance is amazing, and she brings a lot of depth to the role of the sex surrogate.

It’s also a really detailed portrayal of disability, and the film doesn’t shy away from difficult or uncomfortable topics. It’s a challenging film, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. And it’s definitely a movie that stays with you long after you’ve seen it.

Sex(Ed)

When Eddie, a young and inexperienced teacher, gets his first job at an inner-city middle school, he’s shocked to discover that the students have no sex education.

Unprepared to teach the class, but determined to help his students, Eddie sets out to provide a comprehensive and unconventional sex education, earning the ire of the local Reverend.

But Eddie learns about more than just sex – he learns about the challenges of being a teacher, and of the importance of real education.

Starring Haley Joel Osment as Eddie, it’s a hilarious comedy that young and old alike will enjoy.

The Sex Lives Of College Girls

This TV show follows the lives of four college roommates as they navigate the ups and downs of their first year at a prestigious New England university.

The show is funny, dramatic, and sometimes even a little heart-wrenching, as the girls try to figure out who they are and what they want from life. It also explores important themes like friendship, sexuality, and mental health.
